Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, a two time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," announced that its third "Star Wars Night" will be held Saturday, Feb. 2 when the Thunder faces off against the Idaho Steelheads at Stockton Arena at 7:30 p.m.
Star Wars Night combines the finest of hockey and science fiction, with the Thunder holding Star Wars-themed events, such as a first intermission costume contest with a Zamboni ride prize, and other activities as part of the evening.
The heralded 501st Legion, Central California Garrison, will be making a special appearance for photo opportunities with members of the legion and props from films.
Fans are invited to come dressed up in costume, whether they be Jedi, Sith, or Wookie.
In addition, $2 from every group ticket purchase will be donated to Autism Speaks. Group and discount ticket information can be found on the Star Wars Night page at www.StocktonThunder.com/starwars.
The Thunder is 1-0-1 in Star Wars Night games, playing Idaho both times. Last season, the Thunder fell to the Steelheads in a 2-1 shootout defeat on Feb. 4. The Thunder has averaged over 8,000 fans in attendance for both games.
A two time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," the Thunder led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons and drew over 200,000 fans for the seventh consecutive season in 2011-12. Season Tickets, Group Tickets and Mini-Plans for 2012-13 are on sale now.
