
Wranglers sign NFL veteran Holsey

AUSTIN, TX - The Austin Wranglers announced today they have signed OL/DL Bernard Holsey to the active roster.
Holsey (6-2, 295, Duke) joins the Wranglers after beginning the season with Utah. Prior to his release from the Blaze, Holsey played in four games tallying one assisted tackle and a quarterback hit in 2006.
He began his AFL career in 2002 with the Dallas Desperados where he posted 13 tackles, a sack, a tackle for a loss and a forced fumble in 13 games. Following the regular season finale, Holsey signed with the NFL's New England Patriots where he saw action in six games recording five tackles and a sack.
During his NFL career, Holsey spent time with the New York Giants (1996-99), Indianapolis Colts (2000-01), New England Patriots (2002), Washington Redskins (2003) and attended training camp with the St. Louis Rams (2004). During his seven year career, Holsey recorded 98.0 tackles, nine sacks and two passes defended.
The Austin Wranglers (6-3) travel to Philadelphia (5-4) on Friday night to play the Soul at 6 p.m. Austin returns home on Sunday, April 9, to host the Georgia Force at 3 p.m. Tickets for the Wranglers four remaining home games are still available by calling 512.339.3939.
