Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today the team re-signed center Morten Ask for the 2004-05 season.

"Morten is a guy who played very well for us in the short time that we had him," said Wranglers Head Coach / General Manager Glen Gulutzan. "We are excited to get a player of his caliber back to Las Vegas."

Ask was acquired by Las Vegas in March at the trade deadline in a deal that sent Craig Olynick and Blaine Bablitz to the Toledo Storm in exchange for the third-year center. Ask made an immediate impact scoring four goals and adding four assists for eight points in five games. Ask scored two power-play goals and also finished with a plus five rating before missing the final four games of the regular season with an ankle injury. The same injury limited Ask to one playoff game in the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs against Idaho.

"I had a great time in my short stint in Las Vegas," said Morten Ask. "They treated me very well there and they are a first class organization. Coach Gulutzan really wanted me back and I trust him as a person and a coach to lead me in the right direction. I am going to the NHL first, hopefully I can make it, but if not I will be very happy in Las Vegas. "

Prior to his time with the Wranglers, Ask represented Toledo and the Eastern Conference at the ECHL All-Star game in Peoria, IL. The Oslo, Norway native suited up in 62 games for Toledo. At the time of his trade to Las Vegas, Ask led the Storm in goals (21), assists (30), points (51) and plus/minus (+9). For the season, Ask played a total of 67 games with 25 goals and 34 assists for 59 points and a +14 rating. Ask added nine power-play goals and 85 penalty minutes. For his career, the 24-year old has 53 goals and 128 points in 142 games, as well as 145 penalty minutes. Before joining the Wranglers, Ask will attend training camp with the New York Rangers.

The Wranglers total roster of signed players for the 2004-05 season is now ten. The Wranglers have goalie Marc Magliarditi, defensemen Jason McBain, Mike McBain, Troy Smith, and Jon Krall signed. Forwards Jeff Attard, Doug Wright, Dan Tudin and Chris Stanley are under contract for the 2004-05 season.
