San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Gulls announced on Tuesday that the ECHL club has renewed their affiliation agreements with the NHL's Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and American Hockey League's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks for the 2004-05 season.

With the renewed agreement, the Gulls will remain Anaheim and Cincinnati's ECHL affiliate. Anaheim's primary affiliate will remain with the AHL's Mighty Ducks.

"This is very exciting news for the Gulls organization," Chief Operating Officer Tera Black said. "The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim have proven to be one of the top organizations in the NHL and to continue our working agreement with them makes our organization more prominent. The same can be said of the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks.

"Both clubs provided us with talented, young players last season that really helped our club during the stretch drive. I anticipate the same again this season."

Last season Mighty Ducks products Brian Gornick, Igor Pohanka, Andy Reierson and Eddy Ferhi all saw time with the Gulls. Gornick had 24 points (9g, 15a) in 18 games, Pohanka registered six points (1g, 5a) in 11 games, Reierson chipped in with three assists in six games and goaltender Ferhi posted a 1-0-2 record.

Gulls all-star goaltender Trevor Koenig, defenseman Mike Garrow and forward Josh Gratton were each called-up by Cincinnati during 2003-04. Koenig and Garrow played in one and two games respectively with Cincinnati. Gratton, who was called-up in January, stayed with Cincinnati for the remainder of the season. Gratton signed with the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers in July.

"We are very pleased to continue our relationship with the San Diego Gulls," Anaheim's Assistant General Manger/Hockey Operations Chuck Fletcher said. "There has always been a great hockey tradition in San Diego and a great winning tradition with the Gulls. We again look forward to working with them and further increasing the popularity of hockey in Southern California."

The Gulls open training camp on Friday, Oct. 8. Their second season in the ECHL is slated to begin Friday, Oct. 22 in Long Beach with the home opener scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 23 against Fresno. Season ticket packages are currently on sale. For pricing and benefits, contact 619-224-GOAL, ext. 7. Individual tickets will go on sale starting Saturday, Sept. 25.
