
Wranglers outlast Aces 3-2 in shootout

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Alaska Aces 3-2 in a shootout Saturday night in front of 6,765 fans at the Orleans Arena. Winger Marco Peluso scored the deciding goal for Las Vegas in sudden death of the shootout. Right wing Sean O'Connor scored two first-period goals for Las Vegas, as the team to moved to 100 points on the season, three behind Alaska. Center Derek Edwardson and Shawn Limpright each added two assists in the win. Wranglers' goalie Mike McKenna made 24 saves in the game and stopped four of six shooters in the shootout, pushing his season record to 16-1-1. Alaska goalie Matt Underhill stopped 35 of 37 Las Vegas shots in the loss. Las Vegas and Alaska will conclude their three-game series on Tuesday night at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena.
In the first period, Alaska's Barrett Heisten scored the first goal of the game just 1:38 into the contest, giving the Aces a 1-0 lead. Wranglers forward Sean O'Connor countered with his first goal of the game at 12:58 to tie the game at one. O'Connor netted his second of the night at 16:06 to give the Wranglers a 2-1 lead at the end of the first.
Mike Scott scored his 32nd of the season to tie the game at two at 13:58.
After a scoreless third period and overtime the game went to a shootout. In the sixth round of the shootout, Marco Peluso scored the decisive goal to give the Wranglers the 3-2 victory.
Playoff tickets are now available for the 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Fans may purchase a strip of tickets that will include every home playoff game for as little as $200.00 per seat. Wranglers season ticket holders and mini-plan holders have the first right of refusal for their seats.
