Game 5 Recap

Bakersfield, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (2-2) defeated the Bakersfield Condors (2-2) x-x in Game Five of the Pacific Division Semi Finals in front of 5,173 fans Saturday night at Rabobank Arena. Left wing Mark Derlago completed his hat trick with by scoring just 11-seconss into overtime to lift the Condors to a 4-3 win. Bakersfield takes a 3-2 lead in their best of seven series with Las Vegas with game six on Tuesday. Wranglers' defenseman Bret Tyler, as well as forwards Scott McCulloch and Justin Taylor each scored in the defeat. Las Vegas goalie John DeCaro made 22 saves in the loss. Bakersfield goalie Yutaka Fukufuji stopped 36 Wranglers' shots in the victory. Game 6 will be held in Las Vegas on Tuesday, April 21st. Ticket holders use the ticket for Playoff Game C.

Playoff Plots

Bakersfield's Mark Derlago and Dave Bonk each have a hat trick in the series.

Wranglers center Justin Taylor has four points in his last two games.

Las Vegas left wing Kelly Czuy and Bakersfield forward Chad Painchaud lead all scorers in the series with eight points each in five games.

Around the ECHL - Playoff Update

The South Carolina Stingrays took a 3-2 series lead with a convincing 8-3 win Friday night at home over Charlotte in Game 5. Game Six is in Charlotte at 7:00 PM (EST) on Sunday night.

Defending Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati will play a game Seven on Monday night at home after Wheeling evened the series with a convincing 6-0 win at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night. The Cyclones host Game Seven Monday night at 7:30 pm (EST).

The West Division Champion Alaska Aces finished off the Utah Grizzlies with a 5-2 Game Five win on Saturday at the E-Center. Alaska wins the series 4-1 and will meet Victoria in the second round.

The Stockton Thunder tied their series with Ontario 2-2 after a 5-4 OT win at home Friday night in Game Four. Game Five is Sunday in Stockton at 4:00 pm.

The Brabham Cup Champion Florida Everblades now lead Gwinnett 3-2 in their best of seven series. The Blades won Game Four Saturday night in Gwinnett by a score of 4-2. The Gladiators host Game Five this Sunday at 4:05 pm (EST).

The Victoria Salmon Kings finished off the Idaho Steelheads last night, completing the series sweep with a 2-1 OT win over the Steelheads. Victoria will play Alaska in the second round. Idaho has been swept out of the first round two years in a row after winning a Kelly Cup in 2007.

Elmira leads Trenton 3-2 after falling in Game Five 3-2 in overtime at home. Game Six is Sunday night at 6:00 PM (PST) in Trenton.

Wranglers in the AHL

Center Tyler Mosienko and winger Matt Beaudoin are the last two Wranglers on the playoff roster that remain in the AHL. Mosienko and the Rockford Ice Hogs trail the Milwaukee Admirals 2-0 in their best of seven series. Mosienko has an assist in two games with the Hogs. Game Three is Sunday in Rockford at 5:05 PM (CST).

Beaudoin remains with the Houston Aeros, who lead their best of seven series with the Peoria Rivermen after winning Game Three last night at home, a 2-1 victory. Beaudoin has two assists in three playoff games with the Aeros. Game Four is Monday night in Houston at 7:05 pm (CST).
