Around the ECHL - Playoff Update
Defending Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati trails Wheeling 2-1 after winning Game Three 7-3 in West Virginia on Saturday night. The Nailers host Game Four on Wednesday night at 7:05 pm.
The South Carolina Stingrays trail Charlotte 2-0 in the series after falling 5-3 to the Checkers Saturday night. Game Three is in South Carolina at 7:05 PM (EST) on Tuesday night.
The West Division Champion Alaska Aces took a 2-0 series lead after shutting out Utah for the second straight night with a 2-0 win at home on Saturday. Game Three is at the E-Center in Utah at 7:10 pm (MST).
The Stockton Thunder tied the series 1-1 with the Ontario Reign. The Thunder jumped out to a 5-1 lead on Saturday night in Ontario. The Reign fell short of a comeback, losing 6-5. Game Three is Wednesday night in Stockton at 7:00 pm.
The Brabham Cup Champion Florida Everblades beat the Gwinnett Gladiators 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night, taking a 2-0 lead in their best of seven series. The series now shifts to Gwinnett, GA Game Three is Thursday night at 7:05 pm (EST).
The Idaho Steelheads were stunned by the Victoria Salmon Kings this weekend, dropping the first two games of the series in Boise, ID. Victoria will look to take a 3-0 at home on Wednesday 7:05 pm.
Trenton tied their series with Elmira 1-1 with a 6-5 win on Saturday night in New Jersey. The series will shift to up-state New York for Game Three on Wednesday at 7:05 pm (EST).
Game 2 Recap
The Las Vegas Wranglers® (1-1) were defeated by the Bakersfield Condors (1-1) 3-2 in Game Two of the Pacific Division Semi Finals in front of 3,276 fans Saturday night at the Orleans Arena. Left wing Mark Derlago scored his second goal of the night with 1:36 remaining in the third period, breaking a 2-2 tie and giving the Condors the victory. Forward Dan Riedel and defenseman Sean Owens scored for Las Vegas in the loss. Wranglers' goalie Glenn Fisher made 32 saves in his first loss of the post-season. Bakersfield goalie Yutaka Fukufuji stopped 37 of 39 shots for the win. Condors forward Chad Painchaud added a goal and two assists as the series shifts to Bakersfield.
