Playoff Plots
The Wranglers open up the 2009 Kelly Cup Playoffs Friday night at home against Bakersfield at 7:30 PM at the Orleans Arena.
Las Vegas posted a 5-3-1 record against Bakersfield this season, including a 3-1-0 mark at the Orleans Arena. The Wranglers are 34-14-3 all-time against Bakersfield in 51 regular season meetings over six years.
The two teams have never met in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Las Vegas is 28-12 all-time in the playoffs, while Bakersfield is 15-20.
Wranglers have lost to the Kelly Cup winner the four times that they have reached the postseason with Idaho in 2004 and 2007, Alaska in 2006 and Cincinnati in the Kelly Cup Finals in 2008.
Around the ECHL - Playoff Update
Defending Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones lost game one 4-1 last night at home to the Wheeling Nailers. Game two of their best-of-seven series is tonight at 7:30 PM (EST) in Cincinnati.
The South Carolina Stingrays lost game one 5-3 in Charlotte against the Checkers. Game two is Saturday night in Charlotte at 7:00 PM (EST).
The West Division Champion Alaska Aces host Utah tonight at 7:15 PM (AST) in game one of their best of seven series.
The Ontario Reign are in the playoffs in their first season of existence; they take on the Stockton Thunder who are in the postseason for the third straight year. The best of seven series starts tonight in Ontario at 7:00 pm.
The Elmira Jackals visit the Trenton Devils on Friday, starting their best of seven series at 7:00 PM (EST).
The Brabham Cup Champion Florida Everblades host the Gwinnett Gladiators in their best of seven series stating this Friday in Estero, FL.
The Idaho Steelheads will try for a third Kelly Cup in the last six years. The Steelheads host game one Saturday night against Victoria at 6:10 PM (PST).
