THE REST ON THE QUEST
The defending Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones fell to the Wheeling Nailers 4-1 in the first game of their best-of-seven game series.
Cincinnati gets a chance to tie up the series tonight when they host the Nailers for the second game of the series.
The Brabham Cup winning Florida Everblades will take on the Gwinnett Gladiators in the other Southern Division match up starting tonight.
BLAST FROM THE PAST
In the 1996-1997 season the South Carolina Stingrays became the first team in ECHL history to win the Brabham Cup (awarded to the team with the best record in the regular season) and the Kelly Cup (awarded to the ECHL Champion). That feat has been matched only once. In 2005-2006 the Alaska Aces became only the second team to win both trophies. This years Brabham Cup winner is the Florida Everblades. They play the Gwinnett Gladiators in a best of seven series in the first round of the Southern Division playoffs starting tonight.
