Wranglers Battle in 2-1 Loss to Colorado

Calgary Wranglers News Release
Calgary dropped a tight 2-1 decision to Colorado at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Sunday, with Rory Kerins supplying the lone tally for the home side.
Colorado struck first in the opening frame as Taylor Makar, a Calgary product, beat the Wranglers to open the scoring.
But Calgary answered back.
Making his return to the lineup, Rory Kerins wasted no time making an impact, sliding into space to bury a back-door feed from Gavin White and knot the game at one apiece.
The second period turned into a grind, with both sides trading chances but neither finding twine.
It stayed deadlocked until late in the third, when Makar struck again, finishing his second of the night with just three minutes remaining to restore Colorado's lead.
Despite the result, Calgary showed an improvement on special teams.
After a difficult outing on Friday, allowing five power play goals, the penalty kill came up big, shutting the door on all three Colorado power plays.
Rookie netminder, Arsenii Sergeev, kept the game within reach for the Wranglers, turning aside 34 shots on net made by Colorado.
