Worcester Sharks Release Schedule of Prey for 2011-12 Season

WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks President Michael A. Mudd announced today the schedule of opponents for the Sharks 6th season of hockey at the DCU Center in Worcester.

Highlights include; squaring off against Atlantic Division rivals, the Providence Bruins 12 total times, hosting the Calder Cup Champion Binghamton Senators, and welcoming St. John's to the DCU Center for four games.

In the Atlantic Division, Worcester will play six home and six road games against Manchester, Portland, and Providence; and four home and four road games against St. John's. (44 total games within Atlantic Division)

Worcester will battle Northeast Division opponents and rivals, the Springfield Falcons eight times (four home, four away), Bridgeport six times (three home, three away), Connecticut and Albany four times (two home, two away), and one home and one road game against Adirondack (24 total games within New England Division)

In addition, the Sharks will swim out to the East Division and face Syracuse, Wilkes-Barre Scranton, Hershey, and the Calder Cup Champion Binghamton Senators two games each (one home, one away). (eight total games within East Division)

In all, the Sharks play 13 of the 29 teams in the AHL and 13 of the 14 possible opponents in the Eastern Conference.

Last week, the league's Board of Governors has approved the following conference and division alignment for the AHL's 76thseason (NHL affiliates in parentheses):

The complete schedule will be announced later this summer. In total, the Sharks will play 76 regular season games with 38 games on home-ice at the DCU Center and 38 games on the road.
