Amerks 2011-12 Home Opener Set for Thursday, October 13

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today their Home Opener for the 2011-12 American Hockey League regular season will be played Thursday, Oct. 13 at The Blue Cross Arena. In addition, the Amerks announced they will face off against 15 of the AHL's 30 teams during the upcoming 76-game season (38 home games, 38 road games).

While the opponents for the dates below are yet to be determined, guaranteed home dates on the Amerks' 2011-12 schedule, in addition to the Home Opener include the following:

- Friday, Oct. 21

- Friday, Nov. 25

- Friday, Dec. 9

- Friday, Dec. 30

- Friday, Jan. 20

The Amerks, who will remain in the North Division of the Western Conference, will be playing their 56th season in the AHL. Joining Rochester in the North Division are the Grand Rapids Griffins, Hamilton Bulldogs, Lake Erie Monsters and Toronto Marlies. The Amerks will face Hamilton and Toronto 10 times apiece (five home, five road) and will play Grand Rapids and Lake Erie six times each (three home, three road).

Like last season, the Amerks will face the intrastate rival Syracuse Crunch on 10 occasions (five home, five road) while taking on the defending Calder Cup Champion Binghamton Senators eight times (four home, four road). Other intrastate opponents include four games (two home, two road) each against the Adirondack Phantoms and Albany Devils.

The Amerks will play the entire West Division this season, including their first-ever meetings with the Texas Stars (one home, one road) and Oklahoma City Barons (two home, two road). They will also see the Houston Aeros and San Antonio Rampage (one home, one road) for the first time since the 2008-09 season. Similar to last season, Rochester will play former North Division foe, the Abbotsford Heat, four times (two home, two road).

The remaining opponents on Rochester's 2011-12 schedule are the longtime rival Hershey Bears (one home, one road) and last year's MacGregor Kilpatrick Trophy winner, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Amerks full season tickets in any seat location at The Blue Cross Arena are available for just $10 per game, giving fans the opportunity to watch all 38 Amerks home games from the same seat for a total of $380. The Amerks are also offering half-season packages at a rate of $12 per ticket ($228 total), while 10-packs can be purchased at $14 per seat ($140 total).
