October 9, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves will honor former teammate Dan Snyder when they open the season against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Allstate Arena on Sat., Oct. 11, at 7 p.m.
Snyder passed away Sunday night in Atlanta from massive brain injuries suffered in a car accident on Sept. 29.
"We are dedicating this season to Dan Snyder," said General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff. "During the course of the year, the Wolves organization and its fans will do their best to honor his memory, which includes contributing to a cause that was important to Dan and is meaningful to his family."
The Wolves will recognize Snyder with on-ice logos bearing his No. 19 jersey number behind each net at the Allstate Arena, and the team will wear his No. 19 on their helmets all season long.
In addition, the Wolves will raise funds to donate to Woolwich Minor Sports, a collection of minor sports teams in Snyder's hometown of Elmira, Ontario.
The memorial service at the Elmira Mennonite Church on Friday at 1 p.m., will be attended by several members of the Wolves organization.
