Sudbury Wolves News Release
The Sudbury Wolves wrapped up their tough three game road swing Wednesday night in Sault Ste. Marie where they dropped an 8-3 decision to the Western Conference leaders.
The Wolves got off to a quick start as former Hound CHARLEY GRAASKAMP put one past Hounds' goaltender Joseph Raaymakers. The Hounds added three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead after the first. The Greyhounds scored four more in the second period to take a commanding lead over the Wolves. Overage defenceman JEFF CORBETT added a power play goal for the Wolves mid-way through the second; however the Hounds would lead 7-2 after two periods. The two teams exchanged goals in the third, but that was as close as the Wolves came as the Greyhounds took the final match-up of the season by a score of 8-3. The Hounds were 2 for 4 on the power play, while the Wolves were 1 for 4 with the man advantage. Final shots on goal were 37-22.
The Wolves also made stops in North Bay on Sunday and Oshawa on Monday for Family Day. The North Bay Battalion skated away with a 5-2 victory over the Wolves. The Wolves trailed the Battalion 3-2 after two periods, but allowed North Bay to add two goals in the final frame.
On Monday, the Oshawa Generals showcased why they have been the number 1 team in the country for most of the season as they defeated the Wolves 7-0 at the General Motors Centre.
The Wolves will look to rebound at home this weekend as they host the Kitchener Rangers on Friday night at 7:30pm and the Barrie Colts on Sunday at 2:00pm. Tickets are on sale now at the Sudbury Arena Box Office, by calling 705-671-3000 or online at greatersudbury.ca!
