Des Moines Buccaneers News Release

(Urbandale, IA) Defenseman Nicky Wolff came in with expectations and has made sure fans have noticed him in his short time already with the Des Moines Buccaneers. Thus it comes as no surprise that Wolff was listed in the National Hockey League Central Scouting rankings released on Tuesday morning.

The 18-year old, 6'3 200 pounder was listed as the 89th ranked skater among those who are draft eligible in North America. The NHL Entry Draft will be held in late June.

From Eden Prairie, MN, Wolff was Des Moines' fourth round selection in the May 2013 Phase II draft and after completing his high school season he joined the Buccaneers for their final 10 games. In his United States Hockey League debut on March 14th in Dubuque he scored what turned out to be the game winning goal but his biggest impact was his physical play. He didn't shy away from the corners, putting a body on an opponent nor dropping the gloves on occasion evidenced by his 46 penalty minutes.

Wolff is committed to Minnesota-Duluth but is likely to return to Des Moines for a full season in 2014-2015.

The Des Moines Buccaneers are prepping for their 35th anniversary season in the United States Hockey League. Since 1980, the Buccaneers have produced hundreds of NCAA Division I players and dozens of professional alumni.
