Matt Iacopelli and Eric Schierhorn Appear on NHL Central Scouting's Final Rankings

MUSKEGON, Michigan (April 8th) - With the official release of the NHL Central Scouting's final rankings this morning in preparation for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, the Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that two current players in Forward Matt Iacopelli (Woodhaven, Michigan) and Goaltender Eric Schierhorn (Anchorage, Alaska) have made the list among the North American prospects at their respective positions along with one affiliate player in the Lumberjacks' system.

Matt Iacopelli goes into the upcoming NHL Entry Draft ranked as the 98th-best North American skating prospect along with being the 14th-highest USHL prospect. During the 2013-14 season, Iacopelli led the Lumberjacks in points (63), goals (41), and plus/minus rating (+12) in 58 games played in the midst of his first season in the league. In addition, future Western Michigan Bronco led the league with his 41 goals scored that ranked as the 3rd-highest goal total during the USHL Tier 1 Era (2002-present) and was named as an Eastern Conference First Team Midseason All-Star while claiming the "CCM Forward of the Week" honor once this past season.

Eric Schierhorn makes the list among all North American netminders as the 30th-best prospect that includes being the 5th-highest USHL prospect. In the 2013-14 season, Schierhorn compiled a 20-17-1 record in 40 appearances while recording a 3.21 goals-against average, a .905 save percentage, and one shutout during his first season with the Lumberjacks. Also, Schierhorn claimed the USHL's "Reebok Goaltender of the Week" honors twice within a span of three weeks during the month of March.

Conjointly, one affiliate player within the Lumberjacks' system has his name stamped on the final rankings list in Forward Dylan Malmquist (Edina, Minnesota). The Notre Dame commit comes in as the 182nd-best North American skating prospect that supplements being the 21st highest-rated high school player (Edina High School).

The 52nd running of the NHL Entry Draft will take place from June 27-28 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
