HARTFORD, April 17, 2005: Hartford Wolf Pack goaltenders Jason LaBarbera and Steve Valiquette shared Most Valuable Player honors as the club presented its year-end awards on Sunday. LaBarbera and Valiquette, who lead the league for almost the entire season with the best goals against averages, received the award from coaches Ryan McGill and Nick Fotiu.
Prior to the game, Mayor Eddie A. Perez and team captain Ken Gernander received the GEICO Connecticut Cup to recognize the team's regular season dominance over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Jamie Lundmark was also presented the "Hot Shot" Award from The Hartford for amassing the most points over the second half of the regular season (10-21-31). The Hartford made a donation of $1,000.00 in his name to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
Post-game, the team served up its annual hardware. Dominic Moore won the newly re-named Mary Lynn Gorman Community Service Award. The Award has been re-named to recognize the many years of service Wolf Pack (and former Whaler) Community Relations Manager Mary Lynn Gorman has dedicated to the community. Moore also received the team trophy for the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year last week from AHL VP of Hockey Operations Jim Mill.
Jed Ortmeyer took the Bob Girouard Character Award, while the team's unsung hero was presented to rookie Ryan Hollweg. The Booster Club presented the Fan Favorite Award, which went to Wolf Pack tough guy Trevor Gillies.
