(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans will open the 2005 North Division Semifinals against the Hamilton Bulldogs on Wednesday, April 20th at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. Faceoff for Game 1 of the best-of-seven series is 7:05 p.m. The Amerks' playoffs will once again be sponsored by Chase-Pitkin.

The series is a rematch of the 2004 North Division Finals, won by Rochester in four games. The Amerks won the season series with a 7-2-0-1 record. Rochester also has a 3-0 series record against Hamilton in the postseason.

Rochester finished the 2004-05 regular season with a league-high 112 points (51-19-4-6) to clinch its first Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy as the league's points champion. The point total broke the team's single-season record of 111 points set by the 1998-99 Amerks.

The Amerks are making their 16th straight playoff appearance. Last season, Rochester advanced to the Western Conference Finals, where it lost to the eventual champion Milwaukee Admirals in five games.

General Manager Jody Gage announced three player moves today, leading up to the first round of the playoffs. The Amerks released left wingers Peter Trovato and Sam Paolini, and center Brent Ehgoetz. Trovato (UMass) and Ehgoetz (Niagara) are returning to finish college, while Paolini is rejoining the Greenville Grrrowl of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). Greenville leads the Pensacola Ice Pilots 2-1 in the best-of-five Kelly Cup first-round playoff series.
