Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips), seven-time U.S. Division champion of the Western Hockey League, announced in conjunction with the WHL that Silvertips goaltender Dustin Wolf has been named the Eli Wilson Goaltending WHL Goaltender of the Week, and WHL nominee for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week, ending Mar 3. The honor is the fifth Wolf has collected this season and sixth of his career.

Wolf, 17, is a ranked goaltending prospect (North American) by NHL Central Scouting for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and leads the WHL this season with a Silvertip record 39 wins, and also is the league leader in shutouts (7), save percentage (.935), is fourth in saves (1,387) and is second in minutes (3,317).

The native of Tustin, Calif. had a 2-0-0-0 record, 0.48 goals-against average and stopped 53 of 54 shots for a .981 save percentage as the Silvertips clinched both home ice advantage (opening round) and their third straight U.S. Division title with 92 points. He also became the first goaltender in Everett Silvertips' history to win 38 games in a season, toppling Leland Irving's 37 wins in 2005-06.

On Friday, Wolf stopped 21 of 22 shots for a 2-1 comeback win against the Tri-City Americans. The following night hosting the Seattle Thunderbirds, Wolf stopped all 32 shots directed his way in a 1-0 overtime win before a sellout crowd in downtown Everett. Achieving his seventh shutout this season, Wolf stopped 10 shots in the first period, 12 in the second, seven in the third and three in overtime to earn the first star of the game and first star of the night in the WHL.

The 5-foot-11, 160-pound netminder was originally selected in the fifth round, 104th overall, in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. In his second season, he has posted a 52-19-2-1 record, 1.85 GAA, .933 SV% and 11 shutouts.

Up next, the Silvertips will visit the Spokane Chiefs on Tuesday, March 5 (7:05 p.m. PT) at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena (KRKO / WHL Live / Amazon Alexa).
