Lethbridge Herald Hockey Cards:
On Wednesday, when the Hurricanes welcome the Brandon Wheat Kings, the Lethbridge Herald will be on hand giving away the 2018-2019 Hockey Cards! The first 1,000 fans through the doors with get a package of the collector cards.
Awards/Jersey Off Our Backs:
The Hurricanes will be holding their annual Awards Night on Friday prior to the game against the Medicine Hat Tigers and their annual Jerseys Off Our Backs live auction following their game Saturday against the Calgary Hitmen. Ticket available by calling 403-329-SEAT (7328).
Final Home Stand:
The Hurricanes play their final regular season home-stand this week with three games at the ENMAX Centre against the Brandon Wheat Kings, Medicine Hat Tigers and the Calgary Hitmen! THE WEEK THAT WAS
Tuesday, February 26th - 6-4 Loss at Saskatoon Blades: The Hurricanes were downed 6-4 on Tuesday in Saskatoon. Jake Elmer had a goal and an assist in the defeat.
Wednesday, February 27th - 5-4 OT Win at Prince Albert Raiders: The Hurricanes ended a six-game losing streak to the Raiders on Wednesday. Jake Elmer and Dylan Cozens both scored twice in the victory.
Friday, March 1st - 5-0 Win at Moose Jaw Warriors: The Hurricanes won their second straight shutting out the Warriors on Friday. Carl Tetachuk made 35 saves for his second shutout in six days.
Saturday, March 2nd - 4-1 Win at Regina Pats: The Hurricanes finished their road trip with a 4-1 win Saturday in Regina. Nick Henry tallied a goal and an assist while Elmer scored for the 12th straight game.
THIS WEEK'S GAME SCHEDULE
Wednesday, March 6th - vs. Brandon Wheat Kings (7:00pm): The Hurricanes begin a three-game homestand on Wednesday as they welcome the Brandon Wheat Kings for the final meeting of the season. The 'Canes have posted a 2-1-0-0 record against the Wheaties in three games.
Friday, March 8th - vs. Medicine Hat Tigers (7:00pm): The Hurricanes play their ninth of ten meetings on the season on Friday against the Medicine Hat Tigers. The 'Canes are 5-1-1-1 in the first eight meetings. Friday is also Lethbridge Herald Hockey Card night AND Awards Night.
Saturday, March 9th - vs. Calgary Hitmen (7:00pm): The Hurricanes will play their final home game of the regular season on Saturday as they welcome the Calgary Hitmen in a potential first round playoff preview. The Hurricanes are 4-1-0-0 against Calgary this season. Saturday will also be Jerseys Off Our Backs Night at the ENMAX Centre.
NEWS & NOTES
On a Roll:
Hurricanes forward Jake Elmer is red-hot entering this week. The overage forward will head into Wednesday's game riding a 13-game point scoring streak and a 12-game goal-scoring streak. Elmer has totaled an impressive 16 goals and 27 points in his last 13 games. He has recorded a multi-point game in four straight games and nine of his last 12 games. He was named the WHL Player of the Week.
Rookie Honours:
Hurricanes goaltender Carl Tetachuk was named the WHL's Rookie of the Month for February. Tetachuk posted a 7-3-1-1 record in February with a 2.83 goals against average, a .910 save percentage with one shutout. In his last seven games, Tetachuk is 6-1-0-0 with a 1.97 GAA, .938 SV% and two shutouts in his last seven games.
