Wizards finish regular season at home with win

BISMARCK, N.D. March 25, 2008: The Dakota Wizards came from behind yet again tonight at the Bismarck Civic Center to beat the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 103 - 100 in the final home game of the regular season.

Both team started slow but the Mad Ants held a 54 - 48 lead at the half. The second half was an exciting one with the lead changing five times in the fourth quarter. Fort Wayne guard Dahntay Jones lead the way for the Mad Ants with 28 points but was held just two points in the final 10 minutes of regulation.

"The atmosphere was electric in the arena tonight." Said Wizards Head coach Duane Ticknor. "Our guys really buckled down on defense in the fourth quarter and took care of the ball as well".

The Wizards were paced again for the third straight game by starting forward Carlos Powell who had 23 points on the night, while forward Rod Benson finished the victory with 18 points nine rebounds and four blocks. Center Kevin Lyde also flirted with a double double recording 17 points and nine boards along with his four blocks. Guard David Palmer nailed 17 points in the win.

Fort Wayne, now 15 - 28 on the season had two other players finish with 20 plus points. Forward Ron Howard hit 24 points, while center Larry Turner finished with a double double 22 points and 14 rebounds.

The Wizards, now 26 - 18 on the season are a game and a half up with the Central Division lead and face their last three opponents on the road. The first match up will be against divisional rival Sioux Falls Skyforce. That match up may be the deciding factor in the Central Division.
