
Wizards Fall to BayHawks

Bismarck, N.D. (Mar. 25, 2012) - The Dakota Wizards jumped out to the early lead behind Marcus Dove's 10 points in the first quarter, but the Erie BayHawks took advantage poor shooting in the second half by the Wizards to come away with the 93-87 win over the home team. Kyle Goldcamp recorded a double-double to lead the way for the BayHawks scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds on the night.
Dakota started the game hot and put Erie in an early hole and took a 30-18 lead heading into the second quarter. Erie went on a 13-4 run in the second to cut the Wizards lead to just 3 points with just under 5 minutes left in the half. A monstrous slam dunk by Golden State Warriors assignee, Chris Wright, pushed Wizards lead back to 10 and Dakota took an 8 point lead to the locker room (46-38).
Dakota found themselves back on their heels in the third with Erie tightening their defense. The BayHawks closed out the third quarter on a 14-0 run to turn a 3 point Wizards lead into an 11 point deficit. Dakota tried to mount a comeback through the first 7 minutes of the fourth outscoring Erie 22-13 to cut their lead to just 3 points with five minutes left in the game. Erie took advantage of some late turnovers by Dakota and closed out the game with free throws to secure the 93-87 victory.
Stefhon Hannah lead the way for the Wizards in the loss scoring 23 points, dishing out 5 assists and swiping 5 steals. Marcus Dove scored 14 points and had 8 rebounds while Chris Wright chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds.
Tyrone Brazelton scored 22 points on 8-16 shooting for the victorious BayHawks and Joey Graham recorded 18 points and 6 assists.
Dakota and Erie now have an identical record (23-20) on the season as they continue to battle for the 8 playoff spots. The same two teams meet again tomorrow night here at the Bismarck Civic Center.
