Fort Wayne, IN - The Fort Wayne Wizards 2006 schedule was approved and made official today.
The Wizards begin next season with a two-game road trip against the West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers affiliate) on Thursday, April 6 before beginning their home portion on Saturday, April 8 with a two-game series against the Whitecaps at Memorial Stadium.
The 2006 home portion of the schedule is highlighted by:
- Thirteen (13) post-game fireworks shows
- Thirty-five (35) weekend games (Friday - 12; Saturday - 13; Sunday - 10)
- Memorial Day Weekend (Friday, May 26 - Monday, May 29)
- The start of Labor Day Weekend (Friday, September 1 and Saturday, September 2)
- Ten (10) Dollar Mondays ($1.00 hot dogs, soft drinks and beer, including Memorial Day on May 29)
- Ten (10) Sunday Family Days with post-game autographs and photos with Wizards players
- The 7th Annual Scout Campouts with the Boy Scouts on Friday, June 9 and the Girl Scouts on Saturday, June 17
- Appearances by national acts Myron Noodleman, the Zooperstars, Bird Zerk and Jake, the Diamond Dog
Season tickets, weekender ticket plans and 10-game mini-plans are on sale now for the 2006 season. For information regarding the 2006 Wizards ticket plans, contact the Wizards ticket sales staff at 260-482-6400.
Individual tickets for the 2006 season will go on sale in early January.
Wizards Ware, the team souvenir store, will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and for the upcoming holiday season.
Last year Fort Wayne drew 278,631 fans during the regular season, the second-best attendance mark in franchise history, eclipsing the 2004 season attendance total of 278,351 fans. Since taking over as the ownership group of the Wizards in 2000, General Sports and Entertainment has seen attendance at Memorial Stadium increase each year.
