Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

FORT WAYNE, IN -- The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers set a season high for runs and hits in a 19-10 victory over the Fort Wayne Wizards Sunday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. Leury Bonilla, who picked up the save in Saturday's extra-inning win, had three hits, a homer, and six RBI to lead the Rattler offense. Ron Garth added four hits of Wisconsin's 20 hits. Joe White chipped in with a grand slam for Wisconsin's third consecutive win..

Wisconsin (37-72 overall, 15-26 second half) got on the scoreboard quickly. Calvin Beamon walked to start the game and Ron followed with a single to center. An error on the play allowed Beamon to come around to score. Wisconsin loaded the bases against Fort Wayne starter Stevie Delabar and White unloaded them. White drilled a 1-2 pitch over the wall in right for a grand slam and a 5-0 Wisconsin lead.

Fort Wayne (46-64, 15-26) loaded the bases with no outs against Rattler starter Tony Butler in the bottom of the first. They would score one run on a sacrifice fly by Jeremy Hunt and that would be all for that frame.

Garth gave the Rattlers a 6-1 lead with a homer to left in the second.

The Wizards loaded the bases with no outs in the second inning and cashed in more than one run. Robert Perry drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly. Cedric Hunter, who went 5-for-5 on the day, drove in a run with a single. Then, Tom King blasted a three-run homer to tie the game 6-6.

Bonilla put Wisconsin back in front with a three-run homer in the top of the third inning.

But, the Wizards came back. Keith Conlon homered off Tony in the bottom of the third. In the fourth, Butler walked the leadoff batter and allowed a single. He would be relieved by Justin Souza to try and protect the 9-7 lead.

Souza got the first two outs, but gave up a two-run double to right-center to Jon Schemmel and an RBI single to Conlon. That made the score 10-9 Fort Wayne.

But, the Wizards could not stand prosperity either. Alex Liddi came through with a two-out RBI single in the top of the fifth to even the game 10-10.

Bonilla delivered again in the top of the sixth. He singled to center with the bases loaded to drive in two runs and give the Rattlers the lead again. Blake Ochoa was next and he doubled in two more runs for a 14-10 lead.

Souza worked a scoreless sixth inning and turned the game over to Harold Williams. Williams pitched a scoreless seventh. Then, the Rattler bats went back to work in the top of the eighth.

Ochoa started the inning with a double, his third hit of the game. Beamon singled in the run. Later in the inning, Wisconsin loaded the bases again. Gavin Dickey drew a walk to force in a run. Jamie McOwen singled in two runs and Bonilla knocked in one more with another single for a 19-10 lead.

Williams pitched a scoreless eighth and Steve Richard pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to close out the Wizards.

The final game of the series is Monday night. Anthony Varvaro (4-9, 4.28) is the scheduled starter for the Timber Rattlers. Cory Luebke (0-1, 6.75) is set to start for the Wizards. Game time is 6:00pm CDT.
