
Wisconsin Herd Drops to Fort Wayne Mad Ants

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, lost to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 129-123. The Herd opened the game shooting 66.6% from the three-point line making six-for-nine in the first quarter and grabbing an eight-point lead in the process. The Mad Ants stole the lead in the second quarter but the Herd battled back to go ahead 67-62 at the end of the first half. The Herd controlled most of the third quarter but a costly 10-0 run put the Mad Ants within one to finish the third quarter. The Mad Ants outscored the Herd 16-3 to begin the fourth quarter and take a huge lead. The Herd clawed back to within three but it wasn't enough to take the lead.
Lindell Wigginton controlled the Herd with a season-high 32 points, five rebounds and seven assists followed by Jordan Bone with 26 points, seven assists and seven rebounds. Jontay Porter posted a double-double of 13 rebounds and a career-high 13 rebounds.
The Fort Wayne Mad Ants were led by Justin Anderson with 38 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists while David Stockton added 19 points.
The Herd opened the game with back-to-back threes to put them ahead by six. The Fort Wayne Mad Ants tied the game at the 10-minute mark but the Herd answered with a 10-0 run and later built to a 12-point lead at the four-minute mark. Brandon Randolph scored seven consecutive points to put the Herd ahead 28-16. The Mad Ants scored six unanswered points, but Jordan Bone hit a last-second jump shot to put the Herd up 30-22 at the end of the first quarter.
Brandon Randolph completed a layup to push the Herd ahead by 10 points at the beginning of the second quarter. The Mad Ants crawled back to be within six points, but Rob Edwards answered with a three-point play. The Herd added three consecutive three-point shots to push them to 49-39 at the six-minute mark. Lindell Wigginton hit back-to-back shots before the Mad Ants charged ahead to take their first lead of the game. Jordan Bone drove home a three-point play to snag the lead back for the Herd. The Herd hit the last two shots of the game to go ahead 67-62. Jordan Bone propelled the Herd with 16 points and seven assists in the first half.
Paris Bass opened the third quarter with his third three-point shot of the game. The Fort Wayne Mad Ants fought back to come within two points but Paris Bass and Rob Edwards combined to put the Herd ahead by seven. The Herd pushed ahead going up 89-79 at the four-minute mark. Rob Edwards hit back-to-back shots propelling the Herd ahead. The Mad Ants answered with a 10-0 run to come within two points. Lindell Wigginton and Alex Antetokounmpo scored a basket each to hold the Mad Ants to one point at the end of the quarter. The Herd led 97-96.
The Mad Ants opened the fourth quarter outscoring the Herd 16-3 to take a 112-100 lead. The Herd answered with their own run of 14-5 to come within three points at the four-minute mark. The Mad Ants powered ahead to 125-116 but Rob Edwards and Lindell Wigginton scored four points to cut Fort Wayne's lead down. The Mad Ants secured two sets of free throws, but Jordan Bone closed out the game with a last-second three. The Mad Ants beat the Herd 129-123.
The Herd will take on the Delaware Blue Coats on Monday, January 16 with tip-off set for 12:00 p.m. CST.
