
Wisconsin Drops Fourth Straight

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars scored four runs in four innings against Wisconsin Timber Rattlers starting pitcher Austin Ross on the way to a 6-1 victory at Elfstrom Stadium on Saturday night. Orlando Calixte drove in three runs and Lane Adams added two RBI to send the Rattlers to their fourth straight loss.
Kane County (22-27) took the lead with a two-out RBI single by Cheslor Cuthbert in the bottom of the first inning.
The Cougars tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ryan Jenkins reached on an error to start the inning. Rattlers starter Austin Ross walked the next batter and Adams followed with an RBI double that put runners on second and third. Calixte was next and his single to center plated two runs for a 4-0 Kane County lead.
Dan Britt relieved Ross to start the bottom of the fifth and got the first two outs. But, he walked Cheslor Cuthbert and Adams followed with an RBI triple. Calixte was next and his single drove in Adams for a 6-0 lead.
The Rattlers (26-23) broke through against Cougars starter Jason Adam in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Mike Walker. But, that was all the Rattlers would get on the night. Adams allowed three hits and struck out three over six innings for his second win.
Mitch Hodge and Chas Byrne worked the final three innings for the Cougars. Wisconsin would get four hits off the duo in the last three innings, but could not dent the plate again.
The Timber Rattlers and Cougars continue their series on Sunday night at Elfstrom Stadium. Tyler Thornburg (3-0, 1.62) is the scheduled starter for Wisconsin. Sugar Ray Marimon (3-2, 3.32) is set to start for Kane County. Game time is 6:00pm with the Miller Lite Pregame Show on AM1280, WNAM starting at 5:40pm.
