Winterhawks Name Nick Marek New Play-by-Play Broadcaster

The Portland Winterhawks announce Nick Marek as the team's new play-by-play voice as well as Media Relations and Broadcast Manager.

"We are excited to have Nick join our team as the play-by-play broadcaster," said Winterhawks President, Doug Piper. "His hockey background and enthusiasm for the sport is going to deliver well for our fans in Portland."

Marek joins the Winterhawks after calling games for the Lone Star Brahmas in the North American Hockey League since 2014. Marek, a graduate of Arizona State University, also comes to the Pacific Northwest from working as the play-by-play announcer and beat writer for ASU hockey.

"I feel very privileged and excited to be here in Portland," Marek said. "The Winterhawks are one of the best organizations in all of junior hockey and my wife and I are excited to meet the tremendous community."

Marek has broadcasted over 300 junior hockey games and was selected to broadcast the 2018 NAHL Top Prospect Tournament. Prior to working in hockey, the 26-year-old broadcaster was awarded a Rocky Mountain Student Production Emmy in the talent category.

Portland's 2018-2019 season starts Saturday, September 22nd away against the Seattle Thunderbirds and have their season opener against Seattle on Saturday, September 29th.
