
Winterhawks Fall 6-2 in Calgary Tuesday

The Portland Winterhawks (31-26-3-0) fell 6-2 in Calgary Tuesday against the Hitmen (35-22-2-2).
Calgary got on the board first when Taylor Sanheim scored shorthanded 2:19 into the game for a 1-0 lead. The Hitmen extended the lead at 15:51 on a goal from Jordy Stallard to take a 2-0 lead into the second.
Midway through the second Calgary pushed their lead to 3-0 on a shorthanded goal by Radel Fazleev at 11:50, then took a 4-0 lead at 18:58 on a goal by Jakob Stukel.
The Hawks opened the third with a goaltending change, with Michael Bullion taking over in net for Adin Hill. Portland got on the board midway through the period when Jack Dougherty scored on a 5-on-3 power play to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Calgary's Pavel Karnaukhov scored at 11:39 to put the Hitmen ahead 5-1, then Stukel added his second of the game to make it 6-1. Caleb Jones scored late for the Hawks, as Calgary finished with the 6-2 win.
The Hawks continue their trip through the Central Division tomorrow in Edmonton against the Oil Kings.
