
Winterhawks Fall 5-1 in Edmonton Wednesday

The Portland Winterhawks (31-27-3-0) fell 5-1 in Edmonton Wednesday against the Oil Kings (26-28-6-1).
Edmonton's Aaron Irving opened the scoring with a power play goal 5:42 into the game, but the Hawks responded just under two minutes later when Rihards Bukarts scored off an Oil Kings turnover to even the game at 1-1. Edmonton's Jordan Dawson scored at 17:44 to give them a 2-1 lead heading into the second.
The Oil Kings then struck twice early in the second with goals from Colton Kehler and Kole Gable to take a 4-1 lead that stood entering the third.
Gable struck again on a power play 8:03 into the third as Edmonton took a 5-1 advantage, which remained as the final.
The Hawks continue their trip through the Central Division Friday when they travel to Red Deer to take on the Rebels, then close out the swing Saturday when they take on the Kootenay Ice.
