Chicago Steel News Release

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - After securing three of a possible four points on the road last weekend, the Chicago Steel return home this Friday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3 for a pair of games against the Muskegon Lumberjacks, the last two chances to see the Steel at home before the USHL holiday break later this month.

It's been a recent string of thrillers for the Steel, as the team's last seven games have all been decided by one goal with Chicago holding a 4-1-1-1 record over that stretch.

The Steel (12-5-1-1) are set to battle the Muskegon Lumberjacks (10-7-0-0) with puck drop scheduled at 7:05 PM CT both nights.

Winterfest presented by Rookies All-American Pub and Grill highlights the weekend with the Steel set to wear festive jerseys Saturday night that will be auctioned online.

The festive holiday jerseys feature a red base with green linings, pine tree imitation cross stich stripes on the lower section, and snowflakes surrounding the Steel primary logo.

Net proceeds from the online auction will benefit the Cyclones Amateur Hockey Association. Bidding will take place from Thursday, Dec. 1 until Thursday, Dec. 8 with jerseys starting at $150 and a buy-it-now options available for fans for $600.

Additionally, Rookies All-American Pub and Grill has purchased 100 tickets for Cyclones players for Saturday's night's match.

After the game Saturday, Steel players will participate in the first full-team post-game autograph session of the season.

Chicago split a pair of games this past weekend on the road, falling 4-3 in overtime to the Dubuque Fighting Saints on Friday, Nov. 25 before a hard fought 2-1 victory over the Green Bay Gamblers on Saturday, Nov. 26.

After the overtime loss on Friday, Chicago rebounded Saturday in another close matchup. A scoreless game heading to the third, Green Bay took a brief 1-0 lead before goals from Jack Harvey and Macklin Celebrini lifted Chicago to victory.

After an outstanding performance on Saturday stopping 30 of 31 shots, goaltender Jack Stark was named USHL Goalie of the Week.

Stark's overall record now stands at 5-1-0-0 with a SV% of .932 and GAA of 2.49. He has made 30 or more saves in all six of his appearances this season.

This weekend will be the second and third meetings between the Lumberjacks and the Steel out of eight scheduled regular season contests and the first on home ice for Chicago. The Steel have an all-time record of 41-37-7-0 against the Lumberjacks.

In their last meeting on Sept. 30, the Steel captured a 5-1 victory over the Lumberjacks with forward Cameron Johnson recording his first goal in a Steel sweater and defenseman Nolan Joyce recording his first two career USHL goals.

The Lumberjacks have won seven of their last ten games. Muskegon is led offensively by Jake Richard, Tyler Hotson, and Gavin McCarthy with 15 points apiece.

Richard, a six-foot-one, 195 pound Buffalo Sabres prospect (2022, Round 6, #170), has registered eight points in his last eight games.
