WINSTON-SALEM, NC (June 1, 2012) - A four-run sixth inning and the fifth last at-bat win of the season pushed the Dash to an 8-7 victory over Carolina in front of 5,524 fans Friday night at BB&T Ballpark.

Winston-Salem (32-21) started a two-out rally with the game tied 7-7 in the eighth inning. Juan Silverio, Daniel Wagner and Carlos Sanchez each singled to load the bases for Brady Shoemaker. Mudcats pitcher Shawn Armstrong helped to deliver the go-ahead run for the Dash, plunking Shoemaker on the left elbow to push across a run.

The Dash trailed 4-3 in the sixth but took the lead with four runs in the inning. Shoemaker doubled to lead off and with one out Winston-Salem loaded the bases. Mike Blanke and Nick Ciolli drove in runs and two more came home on a throwing error by Ronny Rodriguez to give the Dash a 7-4 lead.

Carolina (25-27) flexed its power at the plate, sending three balls out of the park and rallying from 7-4 deficit to tie the game in the top of the eighth inning. Jeremie Tice added his league-best 11th home run in the second, and Carlos Moncrief sent a solo blast out in the fourth. The big tally came in the eighth with the Mudcats trailing 7-5. Ronny Rodriguez drilled a two-run blast over the left field wall to tie the game.

Nick Ciolli finished 2-for-4 on the night with three RBI. In the fourth inning, he crushed a two-run shot that landed just underneath the scoreboard in right-center field for his fourth home run of the season.

Dash reliever Chris Bassitt recorded his first win of the season, throwing one and one-third innings to lock down the game for Winston-Salem.

The Dash have won five straight games against the Mudcats dating back to April 15. They look to continue the streak Saturday night when right-hander Jake Petricka (3-4, 5.63 ERA) gets the start. Carolina counters with right-hander Michael Goodnight (1-5, 4.93 ERA). First pitch is slated for 7:00.

Winston-Salem hosts the 2012 California-Carolina League All-Star Game Tuesday, June 19. For tickets and more information call (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
