DASH OUTSLUG KEYS WITH 23 HITS

Behind a season-high 23 hits, Winston-Salem beat Frederick 12-10 on Friday at Nymeo Field to earn a series win. The Dash scored in each of the first five innings, highlighted by a five-run top of the fifth. Yermin Mercedes went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, and Ti'Quan Forbes finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 4-for-5 with a home run. After Winston-Salem scored 12 runs on 18 hits in the first five innings, Frederick made a comeback, scoring seven unanswered runs before stranding the tying runs on base in the bottom of the ninth inning. Mike Morrison picked up his fifth save of the season.

HIT PARADE

During the Dash's five-game series against Frederick, Winston-Salem scored 45 runs and pounded out 78 hits, good for an average of nine runs and 15.6 hits per game. Overall, Winston-Salem tallied more than 15 hits in a game three times, striking for 20 hits in a 19-2 win on Monday, 18 hits in a 10-8 win on Thursday and a season-high 23 hits in a 12-10 win on Friday. It is the first time since April 21-24, 2016, in a series against the Salem Red Sox at Haley Toyota Field, that Winston-Salem posted 15 or more hits in a game more than once in a series.

OFFENSIVE JUGGERNAUT

Thanks to their strong second-half start, Dash are atop the Carolina League in several offensive categories, including runs (399), hits (716), RBIs (376) and slugging percentage (.417). This is due to the stellar performance of several players since the All-Star Break, including:

OF Micker Adolfo: 10-for-28 with two homers and 10 RBIs

OF Luis Gonzalez: 12-for-33 with nine runs scored and five doubles

INF Laz Rivera: 13-for-35 with 10 runs, four doubles, one homer and three RBIs

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

The Dash last visited Frawley Stadium from April 27-29, winning the first game of the series, but dropping the final two contests.

HOWDY, COWBOY

Right-hander Blake Battenfield makes his second start at the High-A level on Saturday. Battenfield is one of four 2018 Midseason South Atlantic League All-Stars now on the Dash roster. More information is available on page 3.
