MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Erich Uelmen was brilliant through six shutout innings on Saturday night and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans snapped a six-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Potomac Nationals from TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.

Uelmen (2-0) allowed just four hits over his six innings while striking out five and walking three for the Birds (36-44, 2-8).

The offense backed the righty early on. In the bottom of the first inning, Aramis Ademan singled and then scored on an RBI double by Jhonny Pereda to make it 1-0.

The Pelicans increased their lead to 2-0 in the fourth inning. Connor Myers reached on a dropped third strike before Austin Upshaw singled him home with two outs.

In the seventh inning, David Masters blasted a home run for Potomac (40-36, 3-6) to bring the game to 2-1. However, the Birds fought back in the bottom of the inning.

After Yeiler Peguero reached on a bunt single, D.J. Wilson tripled into left-center to bring him in. Wilson then crossed home on an Ademan RBI ground out.

Jhon Romero closed out the game with two perfect innings for his fifth save of the season.

Matthew Crownover (3-7) took the loss for the Nationals, allowing two runs over his six innings.
