HEIDENREICH, PETER PACE DASH

The Dash claimed a 3-2, series-clinching win over first-place Wilmington on Thursday thanks to Matt Heidenreichand Jake Peter. Named an All-Star earlier in the day, Heidenreich proved that he deserved that nod by punching out a career-high 10 over eight innings. He took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and permitted just two runs on two hits during his 98-pitch gem. Peter led the offensive attack with a two-run blast in the first inning. He scored two innings later thanks to a single and a double from Trey Michalczewski. Brad Goldberg faced the minimum in the ninth for his first save of 2015.

THE TIME IS HEIDENREICH

Not only did Heidenreich surpass his previous career high in strikeouts, but he became the first Winston-Salem hurler to whiff 10 or more batters since J.B. Wendelken set a Dash-era record with 13 on July 30, 2014, against Frederick. Heidenreich's effort marked the first time a Dash pitcher had worked through eight innings since James Dykstra spun eight dominant frames at Wilmington on August 17, 2014.

SIXTH TO EIGHT

Heidenreich became the sixth Minor League pitcher to reach the eight-win plateau. He is tied for second in the Minors with eight victories. Only Jacob Faria of the Charlotte Stone Crabs (High-A, Tampa Bay) has more wins (10) than Heidenreich, who was the fourth pitcher in Minor League Baseball to get to five, six and seven personal victories. Only two big league hurlers have more wins than Heidenreich (Pittsburgh's Gerrit Cole and Seattle's Felix Hernandez, 9).

DASH'S ALL-STAR SUCCESS

Heidenreich and Dykstra are the Dash's two All-Star pitchers, and Winston-Salem has thrived when either of them are on the hill. Winston is 9-2 when Heidenreich takes to the mound and 6-3 when Dykstra is the starter. Eight other pitchers have started at least one game for the Dash in 2015, and the squad is a combined 10-29 (.256) in those contests.

THE BEST IN THE CAROLINA LEAGUE

With his 16th multi-hit game of 2015, infielder Jake Peter extended his hit streak to 14 games, the longest by Carolina Leaguer in 2015. Since May 27, the pride of Mason City, Iowa, is 19-for-51 (.373) with 10 RBIs and 12 runs. Among active streaks in the Minor Leagues, Peter's 14-game run is the sixth-longest. Inland Empire's Eric Aguilerahas the longest active streak (17), while four men are riding 16-game streaks. Peter broke a tie with Potomac's Christopher Bostick for the CL's top overall streak in 2015.

PUTTING PETER IN PERSPECTIVE

Peter's 14-game hit streak is the longest by a Winston-Salem hitter since Marcus Semien and Nick Ciolli recorded 18- and 15-game streaks from late April to mid-May of 2012. In the Dash era (2009-present), Peter's current 14-game surge is tied for seventh. Brandon Short boasts the longest hit streak by a Dash hitter, a 26-gamer from April 11 to May 8 of 2010.

DASH BOAST FOUR ALL-STARS

Four men will represent Winston-Salem in the 2015 California-Carolina League All-Star Game, the league office announced Thursday. Righties James Dykstra and Matt Heidenreich, infielder Trey Michalczewski and catcher Omar Narvaez have earned a spot in the Midsummer Classic, which will take place on Tuesday, June 23, in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. Since the start of the Dash era in 2009, Winston-Salem has only had more Midseason All-Stars once (2010, 7). The Dash's four All-Stars are tied with Frederick and Wilmington for the most in the Carolina League.

DASH DOTS

Beginning with this weekend series, four of the Dash's next seven road sets will take place in Zebulon against the Mudcats...Winston-Salem claimed two of three against Carolina in the two teams' lone meeting thus far this season (April 20-22)...The Dash's last four wins have come by exactly one run...Winston had only collected three single-tally victories all season before this recent run of narrow triumphs.
