
Wings Win 5-4 in Shootout

After suffering a 5-0 loss to the Blizzard, the Wings rebounded on Saturday night and fought to win 5-4 in a shootout. Over 1,300 fans rocked The Odde on Saturday with a very special guest in attendance. Prior to the ceremonial puck drop, the Wings fans were greeted and received encouraging words from NAHL commissioner Mark Frankenfeld.
Just like Friday night, Brookings got on the board first with a goal in the first two minutes. With 35 seconds left in the period, the Wings would answer with a goal from #18 Austin Swingle (F-St. Cloud, MN) with assists from #13 Michael Soucier (F-Caledon, Ontario) and #29 Matt Sherman (D-White Lake, MI).
In the second period, Wings forward #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland) scored twice. First goal coming just 51 seconds into the period with assists from #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI) and #10 Tanner Okeson (D-Roseau, MN). The second goal would come three minutes later with assists from #18 Austin Swingle and #19 Colin O'Neill (F-Odenton, MD). The score would be 3-1 until Brookings would get a goal about midway through.
Going into the third period leading 3-2, the Wings would look to secure a win on home ice. Brookings however would score two straight goals making it 4-3. With 52 seconds left in the game, Wings forward #13 Michael Soucier would score tying the game with the assist to #16 Kyle Haak. 4-4 at the end of regulation would see both teams battle for an overtime victory. After the OT period ended, the Wings and Blizzard went into a shootout.
#16 Kyle Haak, #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson, and #10 Tanner Okeson would all score in the shootout. Wings goaltender #1 Chad Catt (G-Williamstown, MI) would stop 3 of 4 shots in the shootout for the victory.

The Aberdeen Wings host three games next week. Wednesday, November 26th the Wings host the Minot Minotauros at the Odde Ice Center. The first 50 fans through the door will receive a $3 coupon to the Wings concession stand. Also, Skate With The Wings following Wednesday's game.
Friday (Nov 28) and Saturday (Nov 29), the Wings host the Austin Bruins at the Odde Ice Center. Friday night is Free Kids Friday, where kids 12 and under get in free. On Saturday, it is High School Night. Show your current valid HS I.D. card and receive $2 off admission.
