
Wenatchee Powers Past Kenai River with 6-1 Win

Continuing with their win streak, the Wild have advanced to three wins in a row after tonight's 6-1 win in Soldotna, Alaska against the Kenai River Brown Bears. The team produced multiple strong goals as well as maintaining a solid game throughout all three periods. Mike Coyne and Chris Jones were awarded the 1st and 2nd Stars of the Game and have helped lift the team to 20 total points for the season. After this win, the team has an 8-9-4 record and a .476 win percentage.
Andre Pison scored the lone goal of the first period to put Wenatchee up 1-0 at 10:59. Pison had help from Ivan Bondarenko and Brendan Harris.
To start off the second period, Quinton Wunder scored the only Brown Bear goal of the game seven minutes and eighteen seconds into the frame. Joey Sardina and Jack Nickels assisted on this point. At 9:13, Chris Jones found the back of Kenai's net, and with help from Jake Ahlgren, gave the Wild their second point of the night. Mike Coyne lit the lamp for the last point of the second period at 15:13 with help from Shane Cuckovich.
Colin Burston shot the biscuit past Kenai goaltender Alec Derks for Wenatchee's fourth goal of the game. Stevie Bryant and Mike Coyne assisted on this goal which occurred at 3:40. Two minutes and seven seconds later, Shane Bennett and Anthony Mangano were able to set up Mitch Demario for the goal that would put the team up 5-1. The final goal of the night was scored at 7:05 and it came from the stick of Stevie Bryant who had assists from Colin Burston and Tyler Rockwell.
The Wild out shot Kenai 30-28 and ended the game with a 6-10-14 shot record. There were only 3 penalties taken by Wild players and these infractions went to Chris Jones (Roughing), Colin Burston (Hooking), and Shane Cuckovich (Cross Checking).
Both Wenatchee goaltenders saw ice time in this match up. Michael Bullion was in net for 28 minutes, and in that time, he was able to save 12 shots on goal out of 13. Zach Quinn was in goal for the remaining 32 minutes and stopped 15 out of 15 shots.
Coach Littler stated after the game, "Overall a good effort from a lot guys. Started a little slow and got better as the game went on. I am interested to see how we back up this effort tomorrow."
The Wild will be back for one more game this weekend which will take place tomorrow, November 22nd, with a puck drop at 8:30 pm PST (7:30 pm AKST). After this game, the Wild will face off against the Brown Bears in Wenatchee on the 28th and 29th. Don't miss out on any of this Wild action!
