Wenatchee Wild News Release

After an unstoppable effort from the team, Wenatchee has closed out this weekend with a 4-0 shutout victory and has swept the Kenai River Brown Bears two games to none. Goaltender Zach Quinn was one of the Wild's most dependable links in tonight's match up and has aided the team in their advancement to four wins in a row. The Wild now have 22 total points in the NAHL's South Division and is still residing in 5th place. Before leaving the Soldotna Sports Center, Zach Quinn and Mike Coyne represented the hard work produced by the roster after being reward the 1st and 2nd Stars of the Game. The team has moved up to a .500 win percentage as well as a 9-9-4 record.

David Powlowski was the first of the four Wenatchee players to find the back of the Kenai net which resulted in the Wild's first point of the night 16 minutes and 56 seconds into the first period. Powlowski had help from Jacob Hamacher. Brendan Harris and Andre Pison helped set up Shane Cuckovich for the last point in the first frame. Wenatchee's second goal lit the lamp at 17:29.

The Wild went up 3-0 after a successful shot on goal from Colin Burston at 2:16. Mike Coyne and Stevie Bryant were credited with the assists for this point. Coyne was able to beat Brown Bear netminder Josh Creelman for the fourth and final goal of the night which happened at the 7:35 mark in the second period. The last assists of the night were given to Bryant and Burston. At 7:45, Kenai was given a chance to score, but Matt Rudin was unable to beat Zach Quinn on this penalty shot.

There was no scoring in the third period.

Chris Jones was the only Wenatchee player to be called on an infraction during this game and this was a result of a fight with Brown Bear forward Sam Carlson. After this altercation, Jones received 15 total penalty minutes and both a Major and a Misconduct fighting penalty. Wenatchee out shot Kenai River 40-25 and was able to walk off the ice with a 12-16-12 shot record.

Seeing as this was indeed a shutout, Zach Quinn stopped all 25 Brown Bear shots on goal.

To quote Coach Littler on this game, he said, "Boys finished off a very good road trip with the effort tonight. Quinn was good when he had to be. I thought we were good in their zone most of the night. Proud of the effort."

Wenatchee will be back in action on Friday, November 28th, and Saturday, November 29th, when the Brown Bears visit the Wild on home ice. Puck drop is at 7:05 pm PST both nights and this is sure to be one of the best series of the season so don't miss out!
