Harlingen, TX - Laredo Broncos (36-39) starter Gregorio Martinez (6-3) struck out ten in seven innings to beat the Harlingen WhiteWings (18-53) 2-0 tonight at Harlingen Field.

Martinez scattered five hits (four singles) while walking one and hitting two to send the WhiteWings to their second shutout loss of the season.

The Broncos struck against Brock Nehls (0-3) in the top of the third. Ivan Reyes led off with a bloop-single, stole second, and scored on a bloop-single by Luany Sanchez to make it 1-0.

That was it against Nehls, who went a career-high seven innings, striking out a career-high nine while allowing eight hits, three walks and hitting two.

Angel Cordero pitched the final two hitless innings for the WhiteWings, walking one.

After David Fowler struck out, Amadeo Zazueta walked to load the bases, putting the winning run on, but Ryan Fox struck out to end it.
