
Wings Partner with Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention

The Aberdeen Wings are proud to partner with the "Out of the Darkness" organization on a Commemorating/Support Walk to be held this Saturday, September 13th at the Odde Ice Center.
Registration begins at 9:00am with the walk beginning at 10:00am. Everyone who wishes to purchase a balloon can do so in memory of a loved one or write a special message. A song will be performed prior to the walk beginning. Registration plus t-shirt is $20. Registration without t-shirt $15. Those attending can also make a donation to the national 'Out of the Darkness' organization for $150 and receive a t-shirt from the organization.
Before and after the walk, raffle tickets will be sold for donated items. Also attendees can walk through the many various silent auction items. There will also be baked goods for purchase. Some of the items include Minnesota Vikings apparel, Minnesota Twins apparel, and many certificates to local area businesses. All proceeds generated from this event will go to the 'Out of the Darkness' organization nationally.
Following the walk, participants and attendees can enjoy cupcakes and a slice of sub. The Aberdeen Wings players will also be walking in the event and you can meet them following the walk.
If you, or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide or thoughts of intentionally harming yourself, please reach out. Visit with a local pastor, guidance counselor, or first responder as they have specialized training to identify and understand problems that may be causing you discomfort or putting you at risk. If you have a friend or relative who show signs of depression or the many other related symptoms of potential suicide, reach out to them as a caring heart without judgement.
