March 3, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Aberdeen Wings News Release
Friday night, the Aberdeen Wings were on the road taking on the Austin Bruins, the top team in the Central Division. The Wings would fall 3-2 in the game after two costly mistakes.
In the first period, Austin would get on the board at the 7:46 mark with a goal from Luke Dietsch. Bruins lead 1-0. The Wings were outshot in the first period 11-8. In the second period, halfway through at the 10:07 mark, the Wings making a line change gave the Bruins a 3-on-2 advantage and Jacob Kullberg would score giving Austin a 2-0 lead. At the 12:46 mark, the Wings would tally a goal from #22 Colin Raver (F-Bartlett, IL), his third goal of the season. Assists given to #25 Tucker DeYoung (F-Lake Bluff, IL) and #10 Tanner Okeson (D-Roseau, MN) making it 2-1.
At the 17:21 mark in the second period, the Wings would make a push into the offensive zone. As the Wings defensemen made a line change, two Bruins forwards were left a center-ice. After a quick blocked shot, the Bruins sent the puck down to the waiting forwards as Austin's Josh Wilkins would score on the 2-on-0 advantage.
Now 3-1, the third period would see the Wings get a beautiful goal from #12 Austin Heakins (F-Mars, PA). Wings forward #16 Kyle Haak (F-Okemos, MI) would hit the burners back by his own net and feed to Heakins who would dance around the defender for a 1-on-1 with Bruins goaltender Kielly and the goal. But the Wings would struggle to find the game-tying goal resulting in a 3-2 loss on the road.
The Wings take on the Bruins again tomorrow night at 7:05. Listen on 94.1 The Rock, ESPNAberdeen.com, or watch/listen on FASTHockey.com.
