Wingnuts roll over Lincoln

LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs dropped their second straight game at Wichita Wednesday night, falling 9-3 to the Wingnuts at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. The loss moves Lincoln three games behind Wichita for third place in the North Division of the American Association.
The Saltdogs held the early lead after Dustin Yount hit a solo home run in the top of the first, but Wichita bounced back with three runs in the second inning off of Lincoln starter Ryan Dittfurth (3-2). The Dogs added a run in the top of the third, but the Wingnuts put the game away with five runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Wichita cause was aided by three Lincoln errors, including two committed on potential plays at home plate. The Wingnuts added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to produce the final margin.
In addition to Yount's home run, his fifth of the season, Anthony Contreras and Shawn McGill also recorded an RBI each for Lincoln. Jonny Kaplan chipped in two hits, and also made a diving catch in center field to end the third inning.
The Saltdogs and Wingnuts play the finale of their three-game series Wednesday night at 7:05. Righty Jarrett Gardner is scheduled to make the start for Lincoln, while left-hander Leonard Landeros is expected to take the mound for Wichita.
