
Sports plucked by Pelicans

Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Pensacola Pelicans swept both ends of the doubleheader from the Shreveport Sports Wednesday at Fair Grounds Field 3-2 and 9-2. The Pelicans used three solo home runs in the first game to pick up the victory. Rafael Alvarez and Brandon Sing hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2. In the sixth inning Billy Cox's home run was the margin of difference in the 3-2 win by Pensacola. All three home runs came off losing hurler Daniel Welch. In the second game, Pensacola broke open a 2-1 game in the third inning, sending ten batters to the plate, scoring five runs and the Sports were never able to recover. The Sports and Pensacola will close out the three-game series tomorrow at 7:05 at Fair Grounds Field with the broadcast on AM 1130, KWKH.
