The Pensacola Pelicans took game one of a doubleheader with Shreveport thanks to three solo home runs off the bats of DH Rafael Alvarez, 1B Brandon Sing and C Billy Cox. The Pelicans recorded just seven hits in the contest, but it was enough to get by behind a solid outing from starting pitcher Dane DeValk. DeValk allowed two runs on five hits and struck out three in five innings to notch the win. Pelicans reliever Donny Langdon tossed two scoreless innings to record his second save. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pensacola 9, Shreveport 2 (Game 2 - 7 innings)

The Pelicans closed out the sweep behind a complete game effort from starting pitcher Clegg Snipes. Snipes allowed two runs, one earned, on eight hits and struck out four to improve to 3-2. Though Pensacola didn't hit any home runs, their bats did little to cool off, en route to a 7-1 lead after three innings. The Pelicans kept rolling from there on their way to improving to 17-14 on the year. DH Billy Cox was at it again, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI to lead the offense.

Fort Worth 2, Grand Prairie 1

Fort Worth SS Nilson Teilon was 3-for-5 with a run scored, but it was 1B Ed Montague that carried the Cats to the win column. Montague was 1-for-2 with a triple and drove in a run in the fourth, then the go-ahead run in the eighth as Fort Worth held on for the win. Cats starter Lee Gwaltney picked up the win to improve to 2-0 on the year. He allowed one run on six hits and struck out three in seven innings. Fort Worth closer Jon Hunton nailed down the win in the ninth to earn his eighth save of the season.

Wichita 10, Lincoln 3

The bats came alive early and often in Wichita as the Wingnuts scored three in the second and five in the fifth to take a commanding lead early on. Leading 8-2 after the third frame, Wichita never looked back and rolled to the easy win. Wingnuts SS Kevin Hooper was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI to lead at the plate. Wichita CF Chris Colton had a great game as well. He was 3-for-5 with three RBI and RF Heath Keel pitched in with his fifth home run of the year. Wingnuts starter Justin Young improved to 3-0 after allowing three runs on six hits in six innings of work. Lincoln 1B Dustin Yount was 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the losing effort.

Sioux City vs. St. Paul (Postponed - Rain)
@ St. Paul, MN.
The game scheduled between Sioux City and St. Paul was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader when the Saints travel to Sioux City on Monday, June 16 at 5:05 PM.

Sioux Falls 3, El Paso 1

The Sioux Falls Canaries were in control for the duration of this one as they were able to get three runs in the fifth and hold on for a win on the road. Sioux Falls DH Kennard Bibbs led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a RBI. Starting pitcher Ryan Ford was good, allowing nine hits while striking out three in 7 1/3 shutout innings to improve to 3-3 on the year. Canaries closer Kris Regas allowed the Diablos their only run in the ninth, but calmed down and recorded his 11th save, tops in the American Association.
