Wichita Wingnuts News Release

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts invite all fans to their "Tribute to the Miranda Rights Night" on Monday, June 13th when they host the Shreveport-Bossier Captains.

The Miranda rights (also referred to as the Miranda warning) came into law on June 13th, 1966 and state that any criminal suspect must be informed of his or her constitutional rights, specifically those regarding self-incrimination. A multitude of other countries and governments across the globe employ similar laws in an effort to protect due process.

The Wingnuts pay homage to everyone's "right to remain silent" on Monday. Shortly before the first pitch, the Wingnuts' beloved mascot Spinner will be wrongly arrested for an on-field crime. All fans in attendance are encouraged to help Spinner and remain silent until justice is served.

No music or sound effects, aside from the natural ambience of the game, will be played until Spinner is proved innocent. Segments of Spinner's interrogation and eventual fate will be displayed on the videoboard throughout the night. Caldwell Elementary will be presenting the Star Spangled Banner in sign language.

For tickets, call the Wingnuts' office at (316) 264-NUTS or visit the Wingnuts' official website at www.wichitawingnuts.com.
