Gary SouthShore 5, Sioux City 4

Gary SouthShore scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on two more in the bottom of the ninth to beat Sioux City 5-4. Third baseman Mike Rohde led Gary SouthShore with three hits and two RBI in five at-bats. Rohde also batted in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the ninth to help the RailCats seal the deal against Sioux City. Gary SouthShore racked up 15 total hits in the game, and designated hitter Mike Massaro had four of them. Brian Grening earned his first win of the season, allowing three hits, one run and striking out one batter in 1.1 innings pitched. First baseman Derek Schermerhorn batted in two of Sioux City's four runs, and four different Explorers registered multiple hits in the game.

Wichita 9, Sioux Falls 0 (6 innings)

The Wingnuts scored three runs in each of the first and second innings and shut-out Sioux Falls 9-0. Wichita's Nick Singleton, now 7-0 on the season, allowed one hit and walked just one batter in five innings pitched. Wichita got off to a solid start when third baseman Juan Richardson's triple sent two Wingnuts home. Richardson and designated hitter Josh Workman each had three hits in three at-bats during the game, and the Wingnuts registered 10 total hits. Designated Hitter Mark Shorey was the only Pheasant to get a hit. Ben Moore recorded the loss for Sioux Falls, allowing eight hits, eight runs and walking six in five innings pitched.
