Monday the Oaks returned home to Recreation Park after a 1-5 road trip. They would begin a short three game home stand against the Bakersfield Blaze as the second half official begun. The newest member of Visalia Oaks would make his debut in the minor leagues, Kevin Lynn. Lynn who went to Clemson had only pitched in Independent Leagues and was 8-1 this season with a 2.70 ERA before signing with the D-Rays. In game three the Oaks sent out right-hander Kevin Lynn vs. southpaw Ryan Wing.
The second batter of the game Anthony Webster greeted Kevin Lynn rudely as he hit his seventh homerun of the year and Bakersfield lead 1-0 in the top of the first. The Oaks tied it quickly though as Kris Dufner scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first. The Blaze however took back the lead with a run in top of the second and lead 2-1. Bakersfield would add two more in the fourth and three in the fifth to jump out to a 7-1 lead.
The Oaks put a run on the board in the bottom of the eighth inning when Gabby Martinez hit his third homerun for the Oaks to cut it to 7-2, but that would be as close as the Oaks would get. Bakersfield scored two more in the top of the ninth as they went on to win by a final score of 9-2.
The Oaks and Blaze go at it again on Tuesday as Visalia tries to even up the series in game two of this three game set. Oaks send right-hander Jeremy Flanagan vs. righty Cody Smith for the Bakersfield Blaze.
