Windy City Comes up Short against Westchester, 122-108

The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, fell 122-108 to the Westchester Knicks Saturday night.

The Knicks brought a strong shooting display to Sears Centre Arena, knocking down .600 of their shots in the first half, a full .200 points higher than their season average. Westchester also converted on 8-for-16 from beyond the three-point arc which led to 44 first quarter points and 22-point advantage.

On the other end, Windy City consistently had shots rim in-and-out from close range on their way to shooting .417 from the field and .312 from long range in the first half.

The Bulls were also called for 21 personal fouls leading to the Knicks shooting 11-for-16 from the line. The Knicks were called for eight fouls leading to Windy City shooting 7-for-7 from the line.

The Bulls were able to trim the Knicks lead thanks to Simi Shittu and Milton Doyle. Shittu scored 20 points in the first half on 9-for-10 shooting to go along with six rebound and two steals. Doyle finished with 17 points, seven assists and three rebounds in the first 24 minutes.

Westchester ended the half with a 72-55 lead and four players in double figures. Kenny Wooten led the team with 14 points, five rebounds and four blocked shots. Also contributing to the hot shooting for the Knicks was Lamar Peters with 13 points on 4-for-5 from deep.

Windy City used a 14-4 run midway through the third quarter to cut the Westchester lead to as little as six, 86-80 behind energy baskets from former DePaul Blue Demon Tre'Darius McCallum and Justin Simon. The Knick lead had been cut to ten, 92-82 leading into the fourth quarter.

A red hot shooting Peters ultimately held off the Bulls' comeback in the fourth. Peters set a Westchester franchise record by knocking down ten three-pointers to finish with 31 points, eight assists and two steals. The Knicks had six players in double figures by games end, including New York Knicks Two-Way player Ivan Rabb with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Shittu had a career night for Windy City. The rookie out of Vanderbilt covered the floor to finish with 29 points and 18 rebounds. Doyle dropped in five three-pointers of his own to spark the Bulls' rally and end with a near triple-double, 34 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Windy City (10-11) hosts the third of a five-game homestand next Friday night when they welcome in the expansion College Park Skyhawks.
