June 30, 2020 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Windsor Spitfires News Release

Windsor, ON - The Windsor Spitfires are proud to select Daniil Sobolev with the 40th overall pick in the CHL Import Draft.

Daniil played for Moscow Spartak Jr. as a right defenseman, the 6 footer weighs 198 pounds and shoots right. The 2003 born is from St. Petersburg, Russia.

"He is a talented young defenceman and compliments what we have and with losing Rafkin, I think he can come and be an impact player. He plays a good brand of hockey with skill and grit. We believe he is a future NHL pick and we look forward to having him in Windsor." Said Frank Evola, Director of Scouting and Hockey Operations.

"Daniil is a strong and sturdy defender, and hard to play against. We expect him to be an NHL pick and to have him be an effective two way defenseman with his hockey IQ." Said Bill Bowler, General Manager and Vice President Hockey Operations.
