Wichita Thunder News Release

Allen, TX - Wichita (30-16-6) saw its three-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Allen Americans on Friday night, losing 2-1 at the Allen Event Center. Neil Trimm tied the game in the third period, but Jarret Lukin tallied the game-winner less than a minute later to help the Americans snap a three-game losing streak to Wichita. Wichita is 3-2-1 this season against Allen and face each other next Friday.

Halfway through the second period, Chris Doyle found Jamie Schaafsma in the slot and beat Grant Rollheiser to the blocker side to give the Americans a 1-0 lead. Wichita had three power plays in the period including a four-minute opportunity after Alex Penner was called for interference and boarding. The Americans limited the second-chance rebounds and kept the Thunder off the board. Ian Lowe and Neil Trimm had good scoring chances in the period, but were unable to beat Steve Silverthorn.

Trimm tied the game at the eight minute mark of the third period off a rebound for his 25th of the season. However, Jarret Lukin scored the game-winner less than a minute later off a turnover at the Thunder blue line to give the Americans a 2-1 advantage. Wichita pressured Silverthorn and had some great scoring chances down the stretch. Les Reaney found Trimm across the slot a few minutes later, but was again denied. Reaney also had a great look, but couldn't get one past the Allen netminder. Wichita pulled its goalie and had one last break when Kevin Young found a pass at the right post, but couldn't redirect a backhand towards the cage and the Americans held on.

Wichita has lost three one-goal affairs at the Allen Event Center this season including tonight's game. Flath and Painchaud had their six-game point streaks come to an end. Rollheiser, who started for the first time in a Thunder uniform, took his first loss of the season stopping 23 of 25 shots.

Wichita went 0-for-7 on the power play while Allen was 0-for-5.
