
Win Streak Halted by WhiteWings

HARLINGEN, Texas - The Edinburg Roadrunners had their four-game win streak snapped by the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings after an 8-5 loss Tuesday night at Harlingen Field.
The WhiteWings (7-5) got the scoring started as Nick Lazendorf hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning to score Rudy Yan. Bryan Marquez followed with an RBI double that allowed Jordan Price to score to make it 2-0 RGV.
Edinburg (6-6) answered right back in the top of the third. With runners at second and third, a fielding error allowed Osiel Flores to score from third. Vincent Blue then hit an RBI single that drove in Wilmer Pino from third. A sacrifice fly by Carlos Hereaud allowed Pascual Del Real to score making it 3-2 Roadrunners.
Jordan Price regained the lead for RGV with a three-run double in the bottom of the third that made it 5-3 WhiteWings.
The Roadrunners tied things with a run in the top of the fourth and sixth innings.
RBI singles from Fidel Hernandez and Miguel Alfonso gave the WhiteWings the 7-5 in the bottom of the sixth.
Matison Smith (2-1) got the loss after allowing seven runs on 12 hits while striking out eight in five and two-third innings.
After the WhiteWings added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth, Julio Santana closed out the ball game with a scoreless ninth giving RGV the 8-5 victory.
The Roadrunners and WhiteWings will continue their four-game series Wednesday at Harlingen Field with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
